At Hirben, we work every day to minimise our environmental footprint while raising awareness of eco-friendly practices. Our aim is not only to provide a sustainable holiday experience, but also to inspire our guests to appreciate the beauty and fragility of our environment. For us and for our descendants!
At Hirben, we live sustainability in every fibre of our actions - from the architecture to the daily operations. Our commitment to the environment is reflected in numerous aspects of our aparthotel, which we would like to introduce to you: Welcome to Hirben, your home in the Dolomites, where every stone, every wooden plank and every meal tells a story of sustainability. We are committed not only to providing an exceptional holiday experience, but also to preserving the beauty of our natural environment for future generations. Here are some of the steps we are taking together with you:
BUILT WITH HEART AND WOOD
Our aparthotel was built as an all-wood construction, using only wood from the surrounding area. This construction method has earned us the second highest Italian certificate, Klimahaus A. The entire hotel is based on the same principles: Use of solid wood and natural materials, inspired by nature and our local traditions.
ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENT
Heating: Our heating is based on wood chips from our own round wood purchases, whereby we save energy and minimise emissions through air drying.
Green roofs: Our roofs are greened to minimise the impact on the landscape and provide a habitat for insects.
Bees: Eight bee colonies pollinate the flowers in our meadows, which have been left natural for over 25 years. The honey they produce enriches our breakfast buffet
SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES
Recycling: We carefully separate our waste to conserve resources.
Zero waste: Our soaps and shampoos are 100% vegan natural cosmetics, produced in South Tyrol
Local production: We source food directly from local producers to ensure short transport routes and support the local economy. We attach great importance to animal welfare and quality.
ENVIRONMENT-FRIENDLY MOBILITY
E-mobility: With four charging stations for electric cars directly in our hotel car park and the SüdtirolGuestPass, we promote environmentally friendly travel and mobility on site.
Car-free holidays: Thanks to excellent train and bus connections as well as our shuttle service (to the train station), you can enjoy a relaxed, car-free holiday.
